I'm always looking for funny books (Read Why Girls are Weird) so I thought this one would be perfect... it is if you want to slit your wrists.
When reading a book, a lot rides on how the book ends. If it's a bad send off, it ruins the whole book.
This book was on a must read list in one of my favorite magazines, so I decided to give it a go. The author has a very quirky sense of humor, yet I found the overall mood of the story utterly depressing.
This book is a blatant copy of Bridget Jones's Diary. Like Bridget, Jennifer is a hot mess, but she has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
This book was really funny, although at times I thought it was a bit too much - how many times can someone realistically make a complete fool of herself... However, the ending was unexpected and a bit shocking.
In [[ASIN:0061461369 Jennifer Johnson Is Sick of Being Single: A Novel]], Jennifer, like a lot of women in their 20's and 30's is tired of being single and determines that she will get into a relationship no matter what it takes. Yet despite her effort, when she finally does get into a relationship it's because she almost falls into it.
I did not enjoy reading this book. It has some funny moments but i could not stand the heroine.
Really enjoyed it for the most part. Quite a few jaw-dropping, rolling-on-the-floor moments.
This book was horrible. the story ending was heinous.
I loved the title and cover for this book, so I was very excited to read it. It does have some laugh-out-loud moments - and not many books can make me laugh like that.
I read chick-lit for light reading, that's fun and leaves me feeling good at the end. Pure escapism.
Warning - if you read this book on the train with your iPod in your ears remember that even if you can't hear those around you they can hear you. .
Part of the reason I really liked this book is because I'm from Minneapolis, and enjoyed the familiar references. This is definitely not typical "chick lit" - which I'm over.
Jen Johnson is still looking for a man. After hitting the milestone birthday and having to do bridesmaid duties for her younger sister's wedding, a bit of desperation has set in.
After a friend had read a few blurbs to me from this book, I knew I had to read it after she finished! I could really relate to Jennifer's body image & work issues, as I'm sure many people could.
