This is like reading a transcript from a writer's room. This certainly could've been presented better.
If you consider yourself a comedy nerd, and almost every fanboy does, this is an excellent book to read. If you are interested in a life of sallow skin, shaky self worth and a killer career, this is an excellent book to read.
The book is good, perhaps not great. I haven't found where it gave me the secrets to great comedic hook writing, but the more I've read, the more I've learned about the insights and lessons learned by some of the great and/or successful humor writers.

One of the best books on comedy I've ever read. I was surprised that I enjoyed many of the old-timers stories more than the modern comedians I was more familiar with.
Despite my title --which I totally feel is true-- the book is worth a read for anyone interested in writing comedy or just writing. You can get more stuff out of some interviews than others --a couple of people just reminisce about their success-- but in general, every writer will at least give you something.
This book was a joy to read. I am VERY interested in comedy writers since it they who create the comedy that makes me laugh and because they so rarely get the spotlight they are a mystery.
