Raising a bilingual child is not easy. It is hard to find mainland Portuguese books, This is a great picture book and my child does seem to enjoy it.
It was not clear whether it was Brazilian Portuguese or Portuguese from Portugal (it was this one). Otherwise, the book is great!.
This is a great little book. It is best for kids in bilingual families who are at that stage of wanting to name things; the board book presumes that the adult reader knows enough of the second language to pronounce the words.
I bought this for my daughter. I am from Brasil.
The problem with this is that it doesn't show how to pronounce the words. If you can't say it, then it just doesn't make sense to be learning it, you won't be understood.
My daughter-in-law is from Brazil and she was thrilled that I found this little book for my granddaughter. She thought the Portugese was very authentic and accurate.
I gave this book to my "foster" child in Brazil. She tells me that she loves it and she reads it every day.
I gave this book to a family where the Dad speaks Portuguese so he could read to his daughter - he loved it. The Mom also loved it too, because it helps her with her Portuguese.
